Kensington Golf & Country Club in Naples has reopened its completely renovated Robert Trent Jones Jr. designed championship golf course following a $7.2 million investment by the Club’s private membership.

The project included all new varieties of Bermuda grass on the playing surfaces; Bimini fairways and surrounds with TifEagle greens. New drainage was added to promote “firm and fast” playing conditions, and tees were extended with long, meandering “ribbon tees” to create new distances and angles. Sightlines from all bunkers were enhanced along with updated bunker liner construction. Concrete cart paths were reduced in the landing areas and a state-of-the-art irrigation control system was installed. No spot on the entire golf course was untouched.

“I take tremendous pride in the design work done at Kensington Golf & Country Club over the years, starting with the original golf course more than 25 years ago and followed by the renovation completed in 2006,” said Robert Trent Jones Jr. ” Now, we have a completely reinvigorated and updated golf course in concert with our strategic design philosophy.”

Centrally located on 380 acres of the Paradise Coast, Kensington Golf & Country Club is one of the more established clubs in north Naples having opened in 1994. The golf course renovation comes on the heels of a $3.5 million expansion and rejuvenation of the Club’s 30,000-foot clubhouse.

“With this latest work now completed on our golf course, Kensington can offer current and prospective members a practically brand new experience within a well-established club setting,” said David Krzywonos, General Manager of Kensington Golf & CC. “We are especially proud to complete this latest project without any incremental assessment.”

The Club offers both casual and formal dining including a new 150-seat outdoor dining area known as Brighton Pointe. Designed by well-known Naples architect David Humphrey, this open-air space offers a stunning view down the 18th hole and features a casual, island-style architecture, including a full kitchen and expansive bar area. From Brighton Pointe, members enjoying the comfort of the heated saline-system junior-Olympic swimming pool and cabanas have access to food and beverage service.

Other club amenities include seven rebuilt Har-Tru clay lighted tennis, four new pickleball and 2 bocce courts. Recently the fitness facility was expanded with new equipment and a Pilates Studio. Members have access to a Day Spa with a complete menu of rejuvenating services.
