About GOLPHIN:

Golphin, a junior golf business born out of Scotland, is poised to make its mark in the USA in 2019.

Golphin has now introduced a new way of helping professionals recruit and retain children in their golf programs to compliment its award-winning range of golf products. The model appropriately named MyPathway2Golf is a digital online platform enriched with content, videos, events planner and connectivity with kids and parents. It is making a huge impact in Scotland. Kieron Stevenson, Head Professional at Open Championship venue Royal Troon explains, “We introduced MyPathway2Golf in January of 2018 and in 8 months we had already introduced over 2,300 kids in to golf. This has resulted in a new breed of beginner golfers flocking to our summer camps. It works because it makes our job easier to do, and the kids and school teachers love it and it absolutely inspires kids to choose golf as a sport they want to play.”

Keiron’s comments are echoed across the country with many other prestigious facilities including Carnoustie, Royal Dornoch, West Kilbride, public municipal driving ranges, and golf facilities all benefitting from the program. More kids playing golf with additional revenue generation for the facilities and instructors alike.

Founder of Golphin, Calum McPherson kick started the initiative to help kids discover the great game. “Attracting young kids into any sport nowadays is becoming more and more challenging and golf is no exception,” says Calum. “Our focus is to provide PGA professionals with products and a tool kit to help them inspire a new generation of young junior golfers.”

Golphin’s approach is based on a deep understanding of the root cause. Understanding why things need to change, then innovate solutions around that understanding. It’s not rocket science, or maybe it is. McPherson has used aeronautic engineering to design his golf equipment. A design partnership with biomechanics aerospace scientists based at Strathclyde University worked with McPherson and a select group of PGA professionals. The output, golf clubs with larger sweet spots, universal lie angles, lighter than the norm so easier to swing and keep balanced, gets the ball in the air,  with more positive experiences, all leading to happy kids enjoying their introduction to the great game of golf.

A progressive series of golf balls starting with oversized soft balls designed to suit kids early stage development are also available. All rolled in to coaching products, a technological platform and retail offerings to whet the appetite of all aspiring young golfers. For the PGA professionals and golf facilities, an offering that truly helps add value to their program for young children. Additionally, Golphin offers USGA conforming products with their GFK Advanced product range that are now being played with by champion golfers in the UK.
