Sepp Straka returns to PGA National looking to become the first repeat winner at The Honda Classic since Jack Nicklaus in 1977-1978.

Eight of the top 50 players in the Official World Golf Rankings will tee it up in the Sunshine State as The PGA TOUR only visits South Florida for the last-ever Honda Classic. Last November, organizers announced their sponsor since 1982 would be vacating after this week.

Sungjae Im, at No. 18, is the highest-ranked player in the field, followed by Billy Horschel (19), Shane Lowry (22), defending champion Sepp Straka (30), Aaron Wise (40), Alex Noren (41), Min Woo Lee (47) and J.T. Poston (50).

At 42 years old, Honda has been the longest-running uninterrupted title sponsorship on the circuit. Originating in 1971 as Jackie Gleason’s Inverrary Classic, the tournament moved from Broward to Palm Beach County 20 years ago and has been played on the Champions course at PGA National Resort and Spa since 2007.

Both team captains of this year’s Ryder Cup are in this week’s field.  2006 Honda Classic winner and one-time world No. 1 Luke Donald, a longtime resident of nearby Jupiter, will captain the European team in Rome against Iowa’s Zach Johnson’s U.S. squad.  The two-time major winner will be seeking his first win on the PGA TOUR in 7 years.
