Tee It Up For Ovarian Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament
Birmingham, Ala.– Highland Park Golf Course is raising funds for ovarian cancer research throughout the month of September, including the Tee It Up For Teal Ovarian Cancer Awareness Golf Tournament on Thursday, September 29th. Funds raised throughout the month will benefit UAB Research for Ovarian Cancer and the Laura Crandall Brown Foundation.
According to the National Cancer Institute, ovarian cancer is the fifth leading cause of cancer death in women in the United States. Research is so important because there is currently no reliable early detection test to screen for ovarian cancer. Additionally, symptoms can be vague and easily attributed to other causes, which increases the likelihood that women will experience a misdiagnosis or late diagnosis. Less than half of the women diagnosed this year will be alive in five years.
The entry fee for this unique day/night golf tournament includes green fees, cart fees, dinner, music and drinks, an awards reception, hole prizes and an optional charity raffle. The Tee It Up For Teal event schedule includes:
- 1 p.m. – Registration/Range Balls
- 2:30 p.m. – Day Time 9-Hole Event with On-Course Contests & Prizes
- 4:30 to 6 p.m. – Dinner, Music, and Drinks (will draw for some AWESOME raffle prizes)
- 6 p.m. – 9-Hole Night Golf
- 8 p.m. – Scoring & Awards
“This cause is near and dear to us because one of our dear colleague’s spouse, Bob Barrett’s wife Babs, has been courageously fighting ovarian cancer since 2018,” said Highland Park Golf Course General Manager Evan Godfrey, PGA. “We are eager to help the cause in any way we can.”
