ORLANDO, Fla – Davis Love III has captained a winning U.S. Ryder Cup team. Now he’ll get a chance to do the same in a Presidents Cup. The PGA Tour announced on Tuesday that Love will captain the U.S. team at the 2022 Presidents Cup at Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, N.C., on Sept. 19-25.

Love, 56, won 21 times on the PGA Tour and competed on six Presidents Cup teams, compiling a 16-8-4 record. He served as an assistant captain in 2013, 2015 and 2017. Love was also the U.S. Ryder Cup captain in 2012 (lost) and 2016 (won).

“It’s a tremendous honor to be named captain of the U.S. team for the 2022 Presidents Cup,” Love said in a release. “My history with this event dating back to 1994 conjures up indelible memories of competition, camaraderie and sportsmanship, and I’m thrilled to be leading the top American players into Quail Hollow Club next September.”

“Davis has been instrumental in the foundation and continued growth of the Presidents Cup, and it’s only fitting that he returns to Charlotte to lead the U.S. team in 2022,” said PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan. “He has been a role model to so many young players on the PGA Tour, and I know that leadership will serve him well in this role as he leans on his wealth of experience as a competitor and captain in team competition.”

Trevor Immelmann will captain the International team at the 2022 Presidents Cup. The U.S. leads the all-time series 11-1-1 and has won the last eight competitions.
