On a recent visit to the Palm Beaches of Florida, I had the opportunity to enjoy all the new amenities at the Country Club of Mirasol, directly across PGA Boulevard from the home of the Honda, PGA National Resort & Spa. Mirasol is rather unique in comparison to many of the other gated communities in the area, in that it has a fair amount of young families and professionals included in its resident mix. So, instead of just building amenities that cater to the older active adult community they make sure their younger inhabitants have the recreational facilities needed for them to enjoy living at the Country Club of Mirasol. 2019 Open Champion Shane Lowry has a home at Mirasol.
“Of our 1,170 homes, about 380 have school-age children, so we made a decision to build a sports complex for them with a synthetic athletic field, playground and basketball court.” says General Manager/COO Matt Lambert. To serve an active membership, the Club undertook a huge renovation growing the clubhouse buy 50%. It’s now 78,000 square feet with a new casual restaurant, plus a new dining destination, Solstice, with additional banquet space, larger card rooms for men, women and mixed games. The fitness and sports center, The Esplanade, added a spa, salon, barber shop, two new pools and other enhancements.
The two championship courses at Mirasol, Sunset & Sunrise, were regrassed and made more-player friendly with seven sets of tees while maintaining their challenging caliber from the three back tees. I had a chance to play the Arthur Hills designed Sunset course in the afternoon with the Ocean breezes making our round very comfortable. What a joy to play such an immaculately kept layout even after season has ended. The Country Club at Mirasol is a certified Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary.

If tennis is your game, Mirasol’s brand new facility is dedicated solely to the dynamic tennis program. The new center includes a complete tennis lounge with a large retail center, restringing work area and comfortable covered patio to relax and enjoy watching a match. They enhanced the fifteen Har Tru courts with lighting to enjoy evening play and a championship center court for tournament play. There is an extensive teaching program for young and old.
