Tom Wildenhaus, PGA Named PGA of America Golf Professional of the Year

ORLANDO, FL – PGA Golf Professional of the Year Tom Wildenhaus, PGA, Director of Golf at Olde Florida Golf Club headlines the 2021 PGA of America National Awards. The 13 honorees were announced this morning at the PGA Show Opening Ceremony in Orlando.

“This year’s outstanding class of National Awards recipients are inspiring those involved with the game of golf and the advancement of PGA Professionals throughout our industry,” said PGA President Jim Richerson. “The PGA of America is proud to recognize their accomplishments, as they reflect the incredible expertise and talent throughout our Association. From nearly 28,000 PGA Professionals, these 13 recipients are at the forefront, reflecting a standard of success for all of us to emulate and admire.”

The National Golf Professional of the Year is the highest honor a PGA Professional can receive, recognizing the professional for overall performance, level of service to the Association, leadership, image and ability to inspire professionals and promote the game of golf.

A member of the South Florida PGA Section throughout his nearly 32-years as a PGA Member, Wildenhaus’ involvement in the PGA of America began in the Southwest Chapter in 1994 when he served as Education Chairperson and went on to serve on the Board of Directors from 1997-2007.

Additionally, Wildenhaus served on the Section Board of Directors from 1999-2007, elected President of the South Florida PGA Foundation in 2010, holding that position to current day. Wildenhaus served on the PGA of America Public Relations Committee from 2010-2012 and served on the PGA of America Board of Control until 2019.

Wildenhaus received the South Florida PGA Horton Smith Award in 1996 and 1998, Bill Strausbaugh Award in 2008 and Golf Professional of the Year in 2007. In 2011 he was inducted into the South Florida PGA Hall of Fame.

Wildenhaus has spent more than 28 years at Olde Florida Golf Club, where his leadership has continually driven a full membership and his business acumen has helped retire all debt. Perhaps his greatest impact on the game us from the many PGA Professionals and assistants he has coached and mentored to be better in their roles.
