Sandra Changkija Awarded Women’s PGA Professional of the Year
Champions Gate, Fl.–The PGA 1st Assistant Professional at Champions Gate Golf Resort, Sandra Changkija, has been awarded the National Women’s PGA Professional Player of the Year. The 32-year-old also won the North Florida PGA Woman Player of the Year.
“I’m super excited,” said Changkija. “It’s something that I wanted when I first became a PGA Member. It was one of my goals to be the National Player of the Year.” Sandra is a former LPGA Player and a current LPGA member.
She claimed the PGA Women’s Stroke Play Championship at PGA Club in Port St. Lucie for the second consecutive year. Sandra parred the fifth playoff hole to clinch the victory following a final round 1-under par 70. Changkija won 16 tournaments while at Nova Southeastern University and is the only four-time Division II Player of the Year(2008-11). She also took the honors at the 2022 LPGA Professionals National Championship-Championship Division in July at Kingsmill Resort in Virginia following a three-hole playoff and final score of 2-under par 211. In August, she totaled 95 points to win the North Florida PGA Stableford Championship at Orange County National.
Sandra started playing golf when she as 5-years-old and credits her parents for influencing her career, especially her father, for getting her started in golf. She qualified for the LPGA on her first attempt, no easy feat, and qualified for the USGA Women’s Open at Oakmont in 2010 on her first try.
