Naples, Florida–Tournament host Greg Norman has announced the 24 players set to compete in the 2020 QBE Shootout, which will be played December 9-13 and celebrate its 20th year at the Troon managed Tiburon Golf Club at Ritz-Carlton Golf Resort in Naples. The contest will be held without spectators, but the action will be covered LIVE by Golf Channel and NBC TV.

This year’s field will feature 15 of the top 50 ranked players in the world including #13 and U.S. Open runner-up Matthew Wolff, #14 Daniel Berger, #17 Tony Finau and #18 Louis Oosthuizen.

Nine players competing for the Shootout’s $3.6 million purse combined to win 10 times during the 2019/2020 PGA TOUR season. Brendon Todd secured back-to-back victories last fall while Berger, Cameron Champ, Lanto Griffin, Sungjae Im, Marc Leishman, Sebastian Munoz, Joaquin Niemann and Cameron Smith each won once.

Several QBE Shootout veterans are set to return including two-time Masters Champion Bubba Watson, who will be making his 4th consecutive and 6th appearance overall, Billy Horschel playing for the 8th straight year, Ryan Palmer competing for the 3rd time and Harold Varner III, who will be making his 3rd straight appearance in Naples. In addition, past Shootout champions Harris English, Matt Kuchar, Steve Stricker and Sean O’Hair will join defending champions Rory Sabbatini and Kevin Tway.  Some of the newbies playing for the first time include world #21 Abraham Ancer, Mackenzie Hughes, Griffin, Im, Leishman, Munoz, Niemann, Oosthuizen, and Smith.

“As we prepare for the 32nd edition of the QBE Shootout and 20th at Tiburon Golf Club, I can’t help but get excited about the world -class field we have assembled,” said Tournament Host Greg Norman. “While this year’s event will look a bit different without fans, this collection of rising stars, major champions and PGA TOUR winners will deliver an exciting three days of team competition for our global television audience and a first-class hospitality experience for our Pro-Am partners. Lastly, we will continue to raise important charitable funds for CureSearch for Children’s Cancer and other worthy charities.”

The Shootout will once again feature a scramble format during the first round, a modified alternate shot format on Saturday, and a final-round better ball on Sunday.

“At QBE, health and safety is always a top priority. While important safety precautions prohibit us from hosting spectators this year, we are grateful to be able to bring this world-class golf event to our television audiences,” said Todd Jones, CEO of QBE North America. “Few events capture the spirit of sportsmanship, giving back and entertainment like the QBE Shootout and we’re proud to continue to sponsor this spectacular golf event.”

Jones continued, “While 2020 may look different, we are pleased that we can continue to generate funds to support charitable organizations who need it more than ever. On behalf of our QBE employees, we thank all of the viewers and golfers for their participation and hope you enjoy the event this year!”
