The Course at Wente Vineyards
“Aged like fine wine.”
Livermore, CA (February 16, 2024) – Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD), one of the premier signature golf course design firms, is pleased to announce the recent completion of the first phase of the Master Plan for The Course at Wente Vineyards. The 18-hole championship course is a picturesque 7,181-yard, par-72, upscale, daily-fee golf course tucked away in the scenic Livermore Valley, 50 minutes east of San Francisco. Wente Vineyards is America’s longest continuously operated family-owned winery.
Greg Norman Golf Course Design (GNGCD) recently revisited their original 1998 design to oversee the renovation of the bunkers and surrounds for The Course at Wente Vineyards.
Nestled in Livermore, CA, The Course at Wente Vineyards was GNGCD’s first design in California and the first overall public golf course for the design firm.
The project consisted of bunker removal, redesign, and repositioning to improve drainage, aesthetics, playability, and maintenance and help preserve the golfing experience integrity, which The Course at Wente Vineyards is known for.
Diamond Golf International was the general contractor for the project, Assured Aggregates delivered the Best 900 white bunker sand, and Delta Bluegrass Co. grew and installed a mix of ryegrass and tall fescue sod. GNGCD provided all design direction and field coordination.
Greg said it best, “It’s always great to revisit one of our GNGCD early projects and see that the ownership has protected the original design intent and overall concepts, we were privileged then and now to work with the Wente family and team who best understand how to preserve the course like fine wine!”
