Troon affiliated golf facilities across the United States will participate in the 9/11 Memorial Golf Day on Saturday, September 11th with funds raised benefitting the 9/11 Memorial Golf Fund and its founding charities: the Veteran Golfers Association (VGA), David Feherty’s Troops First, The Semper Fi & America’s Fund, Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW), and The Independence Fund. Troon is a proud year-round supporter of the Veteran Golf Association and is honored to support theses veteran service organizations. The Pelican Women’s Championship and Raymond James Financial, Inc. jointly announced today a multi-year strategic partnership for them becoming a co-presenting sponsor and official partner of the annual LPGA Tour event, taking place at Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Fla. The Pelican Women’s Championship presented by Raymond James and Konica Minolta will take place Nov. 8-14, 2021, featuring the world’s best female golfers competing over 72 holes for a share of the $1.75 million purse.

Years ago when we would take Amtrak to the Pinehurst area to stay and play, the train station was in the small village of Southern Pines, North Carolina. Typically, we would play the Elks Club first before checking in at the Pinehurst Resort. It was actually the Donald Ross designed Southern Pines Golf Club dating back to the early 1900’s, but was owned by the city’s Elks Lodge. It was a fun track and a mere pittance to play, before laying out a bunch at the Resort.
