LAKE MARY, Florida – Timacuan Golf & Country Club in Lake Mary, Florida is hosting the Foley Performance Academy @ EaglesDream Junior All-Star July 21-23, 2020.

This prestigious tournament is an official event on the American Junior Golf Association(AJGA) calendar and will feature 78 outstanding girls and boys between the ages of 12-15.

The AJGA is conducting the 54-hole junior competition on the highly acclaimed Ron Garl designed championship Timacuan Golf Club that stretches out to 7,047 yards and has a slope/rating of 127/73.3. The public is invited to watch the action free of charge, practicing safe Covid-19 regulations. Players from across the United States and other countries like the Ukraine and China have qualified for the tournament.

“We are excited to showcase our golf course to some of the game’s most promising junior golfers,” said Timacuan Director of Golf Ben Knapp.

“Tournament players really enjoy the diversity and challenge of our championship layout. With a variety of tee boxes and pin placements, players will definitely see a different golf course each day.” Visit GolfTimacuan.com for membership information.

Timacuan has been among the most popular tournament courses in Central Florida since opening in 1988. When I retired and moved to Florida, I chose Timacuan Golf & Country Club to live primarily because of the outstanding course and proximity to Interstate 4. It has been ranked as high as No. 14 in Florida and has hosted dozens of national and international competitions. U.S. Open champion Graeme McDowell is among its fans.

“I really enjoyed the golf course,” said McDowell, after playing in the annual $10,000 Timacuan Scramble. “Timacuan is a great layout with a links-like feel to it and can be testy in places if you get off the beaten path, but it is a very fair course.”  The 421-yard second hole has been chosen as the toughest par 4 in Central Florida.

The Foley Performance Academy @ EaglesDream is headquartered at Timacuan, and is headed by world-renowned golf instructor Sean Foley, who was the former coach for Tiger Woods, and currently helps 2013 U. S. Open and Olympic Gold-Medalist Justin Rose, 2016 Masters Champion Danny Willett and two-time PGA winner Cameron Champ. The school is home to several top international junior players, but also offers training and instruction to all levels of golfers. The main focus is providing junior golfers a unique opportunity to develop big match temperament through elite golf training with world-class academics at Lake Mary Preparatory School.
