The final round of the 64th Annual Harder Hall Women’s Invitational, which is held at Harder Hall Golf Club in Sebring, provided much excitement. Third round leader Emilia Migliaccio and winner of the 2018 Sally Tournament, the second in the Orange Blossom Circuit, had a solid front nine with eight pars and a lone birdie on the par-5 6th hole. Magilaccio’s back nine was steady, with bogies at 12 and 14, but evened out with birdies at 13 and a stellar shot on the 18th to 2 feet to finish her round at one- under par 71, and a tournament total of one-over 289. Coming from three shots off the lead, Stanford commit Lei Ye carded 5 birdies on holes 6, 7, 14, 15 and 18 and a lone bogey on the 10th, for the low round of the tournament of 68, and forced a playoff with Migliaccio.
Both players had birdie attempts on the 1st playoff hole, but each failed to convert. On the second hole, a short dogleg left, both players drove it toward the green, making birdies to take the playoff to a third hole. On the third hole, a 394-yard par 4, both player drove it safely in the fairway. Ye hit first and pulled her second shot out of bounds on the road left. Migliaccio then hit it safely short and right of the green. Migliaccio’s bogey on the third playoff hole was enough to claim the championship over Ye.
Along with her Sally victory in 2018, Emilia Migliaccio, a Sophomore at Wake Forest, was a 2018 Second Team WCGA All American, the 2018 ACC Freshman of the Year, the Wake Forest Female Freshman of the Year in 2018, and a qualifier for the US Women’s Open at Shoal Creek CC in 2018.
Kathy Glennon held on to claim victory in the Forever Forty-Nine Division, with a final round 84 and a four-day total of 315 (+27). Continuing steady play, Diane Lang finished second, four shots off the lead after carding a final round 77.
