The Wilson World Pro-Am, a long-standing men’s golf tournament, was recently acquired by Tennessee PGA Professional Brian Jorgenson.  The former owner, Dick Farley, officially passed the baton after 39 years of successful ownership.  Under new leadership, Mr. Jorgenson plans to formally rename the long-standing event to the “In His Grip”World Pro-Am.

New owner, Jorgenson, is currently the Director of Golf at Nashville Golf and Athletic Club located in Brentwood, TN.  The Pennsylvania native, who has called Nashville home for 20 years, has more than 25 years of golf industry experience.  His past experience has extended from Scioto Country Club in Columbus, Ohio to the PGA Golf Club in Port St. Lucie, Florida.

In His Grip Ministries, led by Founder and President Scott Lehman,is a Nashville based men’s ministry with a strong tie to the heart and soul of the game of golf.  Mr. Jorgenson has a strong personal affiliation with the organization and the name change is indicative of the new owner’s mission to bring more awareness to the ministry and to serve more golfers around the world.

Mr. Jorgenson said he was excited to have In His Grip Ministries as the beneficiary and envisions the new name for this long-standing tournament will serve as an opportunity to expand the mission of the ministry while also developing a strong faith-based community among participating teams.

In Proverbs 27:17 it reads, “Iron sharpens iron and one man sharpens another.” Mr. Jorgenson said that this verse serves as one of the foundational principles of the new In His Grip World Pro-Am.  “My goal is to create an atmosphere of fellowship.  I envision this event affording men an opportunity to develop deeper personal relationships with each other through a common love of the game of golf,” said Jorgenson.

The first annual In His Grip World Pro-Am will be held December 12-17, 2019 with several planned changes to the framework of the tournament outlined below:

  • Sunday sunrise service and breakfast located on the 18thgreen at Pebble Beach
  • Pro and Amateur Skins Games
  • New rooming options at Spanish Bay or The Lodge at Pebble Beach
  • New Wednesday night dinner venue
  • New Par 3 and Night Golf Events
  • New Player gifts

As we look down the fairways of the next 40 years, we will be leaning into Proverbs 3:5-6
“Trust in the Lord with all of your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways submit to him, and he will make your path straight.”
