Titleist TSR Driver

Titleist’s entry into the high-launch ultralight end of the market is comprised of the driver, fairway woods, and hybrids. All use very lightweight components, which, when speaking of the driver, overall is 40 grams less than its TSR2 stablemate.

In doing the research for the need of this type of club they found roughly one-third of the world’s golfers have what Titleist considers to be “moderate swing speed” with a driver which takes in all categories of players; men, seniors, women, and juniors.

“The TSR1 line represents a continued commitment to deliver speed to every style of player,” said Stephanie Luttrell, Titleist Director of Metalwood Development. “With the TSR1 driver, we found more speed and launch for the player through a lightweight design, better aerodynamics and our deepest CG ever in a Titleist driver.”

The approach is similar to others in this niche. The clubhead, shaft, and grip weigh much less than the rest of the TSR line, the differences coming from a lighter head, a 43g grip, and a shaft, which though a ¼” longer than standard, plays for men to under 40 grams. The head shaping is now similar to the TSR2 to reduce aerodynamic drag in the downswing.
