TPC Tampa Bay Raises $50,000+ for Birdies for The Brave

TPC Tampa Bay in Lutz, Florida hosted its 12th annual Golf Tournament with a full field of players with a four person scramble including celebrities and PGA Champions Tour Professionals in May. The money helps to support U.S. troops and their families. Proceeds will benefit PGA TOUR Charities, Inc.’s Birdies for The Brave(BfTB) program, a national military outreach initiative dedicated to raising funds and awareness for military homefront charities that provide critical services to meet the specialized needs of military members, wounded veterans, and their families.

In addition to supporting BfTB national charities, TPC Tampa Bay wanted to bring more focus on the local Tampa Community and chose to support the Athena House as well. A local charity, The Athena Hose is the first housing program for homeless female veterans in the nation, and TPC Tampa Bay is committed to the local and national needs of our service men and women.

The day of the event, the official sendoff of the scramble included a Parachute Jump-in, the Sahib Shriners Pipe & Drum, and the National Anthem sung by a veteran prior to the late morning shotgun start. Following a fun day on the beautiful Bobby Weed designed golf course which opened in 1991 the Golf Club hosted a great reception which included a silent auction, plenty of raffle prizes and the highlight of the day-A Veteran and family receiving a Car.

“Birdies for the Brave was founded in 2006 and has raised in excess of $1.7 million. I know that we are but a small bit of that, but just like the military and all those who have served and their families can testify, everybody and every bit counts,” said Craig Cliver, General Manager at TPC Tampa Bay, part of the Heritage Golf Group, a leading owner and operator of premier golf properties in six states. “It is an honor to be able to support those that serve and have served along with their families in this event. I am thrilled to be able to say ‘thank you’ by showing off this fantastic property and the amazing people that make up this great game of golf by raising funds for such great causes!” TPC Tampa Bay is till accepting donations to the charities.
