TimberCreek Golf Club- a Must Play in Southern Alabama

For anyone who has ever enjoyed the Gulf of Mexico shoreline in Alabama and loves golf, I have got a must play just off Interstate 10 about 35 miles east of Mobile. Located at the exit for Daphne & Spanish Fort, the TimberCreek golf club which opened in 1993 sits just minutes north of the intersection. During the summertime folks living in Georgia and Alabama head to Alabama beaches for some fun in the sun, and golfers and their family will enjoy the 27 hole facility on their way to or from the coastline.

TmberCreek consists of three distinctive nines, the Magnolia, Pines and Dogwood, which have unexpected elevation changes, uncommon for South Alabama. One thing stands out at TimberCreek – the courses are kept in great shape year-round. Each nine hole layout is significantly different from the other giving them their own personality. The trio, each playing to a 36 par, was designed by Earl Stone, who has designed over 40 golf courses from the Panhandle of Florida, mostly Southern Alabama, and the Mississippi Golf Coast. He has some four star recognized layouts and TimberCreek Golf Club is one of them.

“People love to play here on the way and on the way back from Gulf Shores, Orange Beach, or Destin,” said TimberCreek owner Rob Bradley. “We are right at exit 38 and two minutes from the interstate. It is really easy access on and off I-10. For those of you that don’t have TimberCreek on your list of courses to play along I-10, we’d like to invite you to put us on that list.”

The Magnolia nine features a second hole that has a 30-foot drop off past the 150-yard marker. There is only one hole with water on Magnolia, which ends with four consecutive par-4s and is the longest at 3679 yards. The Pines at 3546 yards is more open and forgiving than the other 18 holes at TimberCreek. It is a great warm-up nine and located across the street from the clubhouse. Both Pines par-5s are reachable with decent tee shots in the short grass. Number eight, a 216 yard par-3 is the toughest hole on Pines with a long carry over water and rated one of the top 18 holes in Alabama. The shortest nine at 3500 yards, The Dogwoods feature a second hole 549 yard par 5 with a massive oak on the left side of the fairway that must be negotiated on the approach shot into the green.

With 5 sets of tees for everyone, TimberCreek offers players of all abilities a fabulous golf experience with scenic views of spacious fairways carved from a forest of dogwoods, pines and magnolias. Elevation changes, wetland preserves, and beautiful wildlife accentuate the flowing terrain, creating an atmosphere truly unique from other courses in the Alabama gulf coast. With a full service restaurant, first class practice facilities, PGA Professional teaching staff and a generous dose of southern hospitality, TimberCreek is Must Play.
