After Nike got out of the golf club business, Tiger was unsure what he was going to put in his bag to start his comeback on the PGA TOUR. After some due diligence on his part and tweaking of clubs, Tiger joined the ranks of Team TaylorMade with Dustin Johnson, Justin Rose, Rory McIlroy, Jason Day and Jon Rahm and chose TaylorMade driver, woods, irons and wedges to play the best he could be.
On his journey, Woods started with a 9.5 degree M3 driver. He has one weight in the draw setting with the second at neutral in the T-track, although he primarily cuts his drives. In addition to his M3 driver, Tiger also plays M3 fairways-3 & 5(13 & 19 degree respectfully); he finds them optimal for the distance and ball flight he seeks.
With Tiger’s win at famed East Lake Golf Club, the Atlanta home course of Bobby Jones,TaylorMade’s 2018 M Drivers featuring TwistFace Technology now have victories in 13 tournaments on the PGA TOUR this season and 17 worldwide, outpacing any other manufacturer this season.
Earlier this year at the Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow in Charlotte, North Carolina, Woods made a switch into the TW Phase 1 irons, engineered and crafted to his precise specifications by TaylorMade. Jason Day, the Australian golfer, former #1 and PGA Championship winner, won the Wells Fargo with a complete bag of TaylorMade clubs and ball including a 9 degree M3 driver.
At the Memorial Tournament at the Jack Nicklaus designed Muirfield Village Golf Club in Ohio, Tiger made the switch into TaylorMade’s Milled Grind wedges in a raw finish with a custom grind to his specification at 56 & 60 degrees.
Getting familiar with the performance he expects from clubs and the results culminated at the TOUR Championship with another TaylorMade player winning the FedEx Cup. Justin Rose, like Jason, plays a full bag of TaylorMade clubs and ball. Justin, an Olympic Gold Medalist in Rio, made it to #1 for a week, but Dustin Johnson regained his #1 ranking playing a full bag of TaylorMade clubs and ball. You can’t argue with success.
Our congratulations to Justin, Tiger and TaylorMade on the extraordinary season!
