Streamsong Black Named Best New Development by Golf Inc.

In less than six months since its opening, Streamsong Black, located in Polk County, Florida has been named the Best New Development of the Year in Golf Inc.’s 15th annual competition. The course finished above other notable golf developments around the world. With this new award, the Streamsong Resort is now home to three award-winning golf courses-Bill Coore & Ben Crenshaw designed Red, Tom Doak’s Blue and Black by Gil Hanse.

Golf Inc. Magazine’s list of new developments is compiled annually and is published in the March/April issue. The judges evaluate the nominees on the following criteria: How the final result achieves the vision of the developer, architect and contractor and works with the business plan; how the project is environmentally sensitive and economically sustainable.

Streamsong Black was recognized for the following qualities:

An outstanding example of an inland links-style course with firm and fast playing conditions built on an expansive sand-based property.

One of the ways that Black differentiates itself from its older siblings is the terrain. Hanse built it on a more flowing landscape with rolling fairways and numerous ridges dotting the site.

The judges added, “We applaud Mosaics vision for creating yet another memorable golf experience in a fairly remote location that can attract any type of event in the future. To have three top-tier courses in one location sounds pretty inviting, no matter where you live.”

“We are incredibly honored to have won this award,” said Rich Mack of Mosaics. “It has been exceptionally rewarding opening this third course and seeing all of our hard work come to fruition. I’d like to thank our team and all of our staff at Streamsong as this award would not have been possible without you and your continued dedication and support.”

Since opening in January 2013, Streamsong Red and Blue have received numerous accolades throughout the golf industry, including Golfweek’s “Best Modern Courses” and “Best Resort Courses,” as well as Golf Digest’s “Florida’s Best Public Courses.”

Streamsong Resort has been developed by The Mosaic Company and is founded on a commitment to its surrounding resources. From awe-inspiring golf courses and enchanting nature trails to sumptuous dining and ethereal spa experiences, Streamsong operates in concert with its environment. This appreciation for the land’s inherent beauty creates an unparalleled luxury resort. The hotel is operated by Interstate Hotels & Resorts and the golf courses are managed by Kemper/Sports.
