by | Mar 5, 2020 | WHERE TO PLAY

Rumbling Bald Resort, one of North Carolina’s hidden treasures, has announced its new golf packages for 2020 at the magnificent 36-hole golf resort, situated on stunning Lake Lure near Chimney Rock. The packages can be customized for any size group and are ideal for weekday and weekend buddy trips.

Starting at $345 per person including taxes and fees, the “Hole in One” package features a two-night stay, two rounds of golf on both courses, breakfast both days and unlimited complimentary range balls. Lodging options include the recently updated Apple Valley Studios and two & four bedroom Fairway Villas.

Paying homage to the 2020 Ryder Cup that will be contested at famed Whistling Straits in Wisconsin, Rumbling Bald is offering a limited availability “Ryder Cup Package” where the resort’s expert golf vacation planners will design an exciting Ryder Cup formatted team event for golf groups in search of an unforgettable golf experience. The Ryder Cup Package starts at $589 per person including taxes & fees; three nights lodging; three rounds of golf handicapped and scored; complimentary replays on either course; a team shirt and resort hat; private one-hour opening reception with wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres; and unlimited use of the practice facilities.

“We want golfers to get here, unplug, play 18 or 36 holes and shed the stress of the hurry-up, always-on lifestyle we lead,” says Jeff Geisler, Rumbling Bald General Manager. “Post round they can relax over a hearty meal and a cold beverage, then retreat to the deck of their vacation rental with cigar or nightcap.” For groups of 12 or more, Rumbling Bald offers ‘gratis’ golf for group leaders upon booking their first trip to the resort. The ” 12+Co” is ideal for PGA Professional-Member trips, tournaments or large group trips.

Rumbling Bald Resort

An hour’s drive from Ashville and less than two hours from Charlotte, Rumbling Bald is one of Western North Carolina’s only multi-course golf resorts. Located on the northern shore of man-made Lake Lure, the resort is home to the W.B.Lewis gorgeous Bald Mountain course and the Dan Maples challenging Apple Valley layout.

The Resort’s marquee course, Apple Valley stretches to nearly 6,800 yards and features expansive views of 3,200 foot high Bald Mountain and the surrounding Lake Lure area. Maples estimated 75% of the shots at Apple Valley are either level or downhill, virtually unheard of for a mountain course. Shimmering mountain lakes border 12 holes but only occasionally come into play.

Bald Mountain, my personal favorite, at 6,300 yards is renowned for its unique configuration of five par 5s and five par3s. Movie buffs will appreciate the 16th green, the original backdrop of a scene from the everlasting Patrick Swayze movie “Dirty Dancing.”
A protege’ of famed golf course architect George Cobb, Lewis did an amazing job or carving a beauty out of the Bald’s mountain terrain with the ease of play from tee to green.

The resort’s 150 vacation rental condos, homes and studios are ideal for various size golf groups and feature lovely golf course and mountain vistas. Post round players can relax at Legends on the Lake, a casual dining restaurant overlooking Lake Lure, or grab a hearty sandwich and cold drink at Pinnacle Southern Kitchen at the Apple Valley clubhouse.

Rumbling Bald Resort is rich with amenities and activities, including Lake Lure boat tours and rentals, fishing, swimming, tennis, pickleball, a full-service spa, wellness center and hiking trails. The resort is the perfect base camp for exploring the natural wonders of Western North Carolina and the Smoky and Blue Ridge Mountains.
