The International Association of Golf Tour Operators, the global golf tourism organization, unveiled a new website,
PlayGolfinFrance.com, created on behalf of the French Golf Tourism Industry to showcase the golf destinations in the country ahead of the 2018 Ryder Cup, which will be played at Le Golf National, site of the French Open, in Haute Valley National Park near Versaille, about 20 miles south west of Paris. The contest for the Cup will take place September 28-30 with Captains Jim Furyk and Thomas Bjorn getting their teams in order after the PGA Championship at Bellerive Country Club.
The objective of the new website is to inspire golfers throughout the world to consider France for their next golf vacation, particularly once their interest has been piqued by the playing of the Ryder Cup. The golfers can select what aspect of their visit is most important to them(after golf, of course) and immediately see which golf destinations combine best with gastronomy, oenology, beaches, other sports, spa, thalasso, culture, nature, family activities, city visits or shopping.
The website also presents France’s golf destinations by region and features more than 150 golf courses and resorts across the country.
The website was built with the support of regional tourism offices and is endorsed by Atout France(the French Tourism Board) and the FFG(the French Golf Federation). A search engine enables golfers to find IAGTO member golf tour operators, in their own country, that sell golf packages and vacations to France.
Guilliaume Post, IAGTO Marketing and Communications Manager said, “We are delighted with this new digital offering, showcasing the diverse array of golf experiences in the country, weeks before the second biggest spectator sports event comes to France for the first time.”
Alexandra Barton, Director of IAGTO France added, France is of course synonymous with food & wine, history and heritage, everything that already makes it the world’s top tourist destination. But there is so much to shout about as a golf destination. We hope this platform can assist many avid or casual golfers find exactly what they are looking for with ease so that they can go play golf in France!”
