PGA TOUR Performance Center Names Todd Anderson New Director

Renowned golf instructor Todd Anderson, the 2010 PGA Teacher of the Year, has been named Director of the expanded and upgraded PGA TOUR Performance Center at TPC Sawgrass, the home of the Players Championship being played this week 5/9-14. As part of the of the large scale renovations to the TPC property, the Performance Center will reopen following the golf tournament, and will serve as the centerpiece of the best-in-class Practice Grounds along the Stadium Course.

“I am very excited about this opportunity with the PGA TOUR and look forward to using our state-of-the-art Center to create programs that will help players of all levels improve,” said Anderson.

Anderson has been a Class A member of the PGA of America since 1987 and has held a number of high profile positions in the instruction area of golf. At age 25, he was named the Director of Golf at Elk River Club in Banner Elk, North Carolina, where he stayed for seven years before moving to Old Marsh Golf Club in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, as Director of Golf. He then took the Director’s job at The Breakers in Palm Beach where he was selected as the 1999 South Florida PGA Teacher of the Year and 2003 Horton Smith Award Recipient.

From 2003-2016 Todd was the Director of Instruction at the Sea Island, Georgia Golf Performance Center, where he worked with FedEx Cup Champions Billy Horschel(2014) and Brandt Snedeker(2012) among other professionals. Throughout his career, Anderson has taught more than 100 PGA TOUR,, PGA TOUR Champions and LPGA TOUR professionals. Since 2000, he has been listed among Golf Digest’s 50 Greatest Teachers, and since 2002, Todd has been one of Golf Magazine’s Top 100 Instructors, in addition to being named PGA Teacher of the Year in 2010.

The Performance Center has been upgraded in numerous ways in an effort to make it the leading instructional facility in golf. Among the changes to the structure itself include the addition of a second story and two more hitting bays. The Center will also have a treatment room for the first time to help students recover more quickly from injuries. The club-fitting room was expanded, which allows instructors to tailor equipment to all players.

To assist the teaching staff and make the learning experience as personal and intimate as possible, it will now house two large teaching rooms. The facility will also take full advantage of the advanced golf technology available for game improvement. Guests will have access to state-of-the-art mental coaching and a new fitness and training room. These new additions will increase the size of the Performance Center to 7660 square feet.
