LETTER FROM THE EDITOR

4-FEB-2020

Tommy “TWO GLOVES” Gainey took the Bahamas Great Exuma Classic at Sandals Emerald Bay. It is a repeat for Baseball Hall of Famer John Smoltz, playing the new Bridgestone ball in the Celebrity side of the Diamond Resorts LPGA Tournament of Champions at the Four Seasons Resort’s Tranquillo Golf Club at Disney World Orlando. On the Pro side, after seven playoff holes and an extra morning, 26-year-old Mexican Gaby Lopez defeated Nasa Nataoka to win the LPGA Tournament of Champions with a 30-foot putt for birdie.

Lee Westwood won the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship for his 25th win on the European Tour and in four different decades.

Andrew Landry, playing a full bag of Titlist clubs and ball, came out on top at the American Express at La Quinta for his 2nd PGA TOUR win. Nasa loses again at the inaugural Gainbridge LPGA Championship to Medelene Sagstrom, an LSU Alum from Sweden for her first Tour win.

Mark Leishman unleashed a torrid 7-under final round to capture the Farmers Insurance Open on Australia Day at Torrey Pines near San Diego, his 5th win with a full bag of Callaway clubs and ball.

GMac is Back! The 40 year-old Northern Irishman and Lake Nona, Orlando resident, Graeme McDowell, captured the Saudi International using his Srixon driver, irons and ball for his 11th win on the European Tour and 16th overall.

PGA journeyman Brett Quigley won his inaugural step onto the Champions Tour in Morocco. Congrats Brett.

The Waste Management at TPC Scottsdale had the most drama with Webb Simpson coming out the victor against good friend Tony Finau in a playoff.

Happy 80th Birthday to Jack Nicklaus, 16 time Major Champion, Golf Course Architect with over 300 original designs throughout the world, humanitarian with wife Barbara promoting free children’s health care at the Honda Classic in Florida and the Memorial Golf Tournament in Ohio, and my playing partner at the Concession Golf Club in Bradenton.
