When visiting the beautiful town of Knoxville, Tennessee in the Appalachian Valley, you have your choice of 20+ golf courses in the area. The city owned Knoxville Municipal Golf Course was recently voted the ‘Favorite Public Golf Course’ by the golf readers of the city’s Knoxville News Sentinel for 2020. The ballot was conducted via a public inquiry by the newspaper for almost a month. Knox Muni, as it is known by the locals is one of two public courses owned by the city.

Opening in the spring of 1984, the golf course was designed by architect D.J. Devictor and built by the Roberts family, who upon leasing the land to the city made sure it would only be used for golf. The 6,413-yard layout meanders through rolling hills, running streams and home to natural wildlife. Knox Muni features lush Bermuda fairways and quick bentgrass greens making for a perfect setting amid scenic views for players of all abilities. Golfers have come to love Knoxville Municipal for the challenging experience it presents. The course is managed by Indigo Golf Partners.

Knoxville Municipal has a long standing history of being a community asset and providing affordable golf for all its residents, The course plays host to a variety of school, church, non-profit foundations and other organizational fundraising events on an annual basis. The course also graciously hosts many junior golf camps and clinics in partnership with the First Tee of Greater Knoxville, along with serving as a home for numerous middle and high school golf team practices and matches.
