Congratulations to the American team and captain Davis Love III for winning the President’s Cup held at the Quail Hollow Club in Charlotte, North Carolina. Kudos to Jordan Spieth who went 5-0-0 in his matches to lead the USA team. I for one enjoyed the coverage and the competition. Jordan and his father Shawn Spieth will join the team competition at the PNC Championship in December at the Ritz Carlton Orlando Grande Lakes.

For those Central Florida Tiger watchers, you missed a chance to get up close and personal as Tiger caddied for son Charlie at Mission Inn the last weekend in September in the Notah Begay III Junior National Golf Championship. The winner of the Boys’ competition is another interesting story. Misha Golod from Kyiv, Ukraine won with an even-par 2-day total of 144. The 15-year-old left Ukraine in March on a 54-hour, 5000-mile refugee trip to Orlando with the help of the PGA.

At Pebble Beach Golf Links it was Steve Flesch capturing the PURE Insurance Championship with a birdie putt on the 18th hole. Atthaya Thitikul from Thailand won the Walmart NW Arkansas Championship presented by P&G for her second LPGA title at the Pinnacle Country Club in Rogers, Arkansas. It was Italian Guido Migliozzi firing a final round 62 at Le Golf National to win the Cazoo Open de France.

At St. Andrews, Scotland, Ryan Fox from New Zealand won the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship by one stroke over the DP World Tour players. The tournament was played over three courses, Kingsbarns, Carnoustie, and the Old Course at St. Andrews. It has been 46 years since a player from New Zealand has won at St. Andrews. In the Team Championship, 2nd place Collum Shinkwin from England and his partner Nick Acquavella could not be caught on the last day of play.

After six years without an LPGA Tour win, England’s Charley Hull took the title at The Ascendant benefitting Volunteers of America at the Old American Golf Club in Colony, Texas by one stroke for her 2nd LPGA victory. At the Country Club of Jackson, Mississippi Canadian Mackenzie Hughes defeated Sepp Straka on the second playoff hole to secure the win at the Sanderson Farms Championship for his second win on the PGA TOUR after six years. It’s like deja-vu.

Hurricane Ian took a serious bite out of Southwest Florida, destroying homes and businesses in its wake. Take a moment and pray for those who have lost everything, and if you can, support whatever charity you want to help them rebuild their lives. In Central Florida, we had some issues but overall we are in good shape in comparison to our friends in Lee, Collier, Charlotte, and Hendry counties. Go Pray & Pay!
