Check Out the Champion at PGA National with a Fall Escape & Play Package

The Champion course at PGA National Resort & Spa, the home of the Honda Classic since 2007, is reopening this fall with all new greens. The Jack Nicklaus championship layout will host the PGA TOUR February 25-March 3, 2019 in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida, where Justin Thomas won in 2018, outdueling the legendary “Bear Trap,” the most demanding three hole stretch in all of golf.

Originally designed in 1990 by Tom and George Fazio, the Champion was redesigned by Jack Nicklaus in 2002, when the greens were planted with TifEagle Bermuda. The 2018 regrassing is again with brand new TifEagle, which will be overseen by Brad Nelson, Director of Agronomy at PGA National, and the Nicklaus Design Team, expanding the greens to their original size caused by shrinkage and fairway grass intrusion. This will bring the Champion’s greens equal to the other Florida Swing venues which have all regrassed in the past few years.

Now is the perfect time to experience the Champion and the other 4 outstanding courses at the world-class destination, PGA National Resort & Spa. The Resort has released a value packed “Fall Escape and Play package for an unforgettable Florida getaway.

PGA National is truly a golf lover’s dream and one of my favorite places to stay and play. The legendary
Resort offers 90 holes of high-caliber golf including the equally challenging Palmer course that was renovated last year to rave reviews. The Fazio, Estates and Squire courses are great tracks providing a variety of challenges and are included in the Package featuring premier accommodations, full breakfast daily at the Palm Terrace. There are surcharges for the Champion of $75 in November and $125 in December and a $50 surcharge for Palmer.

Complimentary replay rounds are included and are confirmed on day of play with a $40 replay cart fee, and $50 Champion surcharge. The offer features unlimited range balls and complimentary bag storage.
Resort fees and taxes are added on all packages.

“Fall is a glorious time to visit us here in South Florida to enjoy our incredible courses, outstanding accommodations and a full array of resort amenities,” says Greg Saunders, Vice President & Managing Director. “We invite everyone to let us showcase our outstanding customer care and discover firsthand why we’re at the pinnacle of U.S. golf destinations.”

After a game of golf, take time to visit the Spa at PGA National, voted the ‘Best of the Palm Beaches’ and featuring a 40,000 square foot oasis of tranquility and pampering. With 32 treatment rooms and relaxation lounges, 100 diverse personal treatment options, a full service salon, the Spa is my second favorite place to enjoy while staying at PGA National. The exclusive “Waters of the World” outdoor mineral pools are an experience not to be missed after a comforting message or specialty treatment.

Try it, you’ll love it!

The 33,000 square-foot, state-of-the-art Sports and Racquet Club features the latest exercise equipment, indoor racquetball court, three aerobics studios with new sound systems, five-lane saltwater lap pool, spin room with video road mapping, indoor volleyball court, two pickleball/POP courts and 19 Har-Tru tennis courts. The Johan Kriek Tennis Academy is managed by the two time Australian Open Champion and has a full selection of instruction for all ages.

Staying at the Resort is an experience unto itself. From the comfortable resort rooms with a view from either a balcony or terrace to the lovely and spacious specialty and junior suites, you will enjoy a memorable stay. Fine dining is available at the Ironwood Steak & Seafood, considered one of the Palm Beaches best epicurean experiences. The gathering place for who’s who in Palm Beach is the lobby IBAR. On my last visit I found myself sitting next to Rory McIlroy enjoying a libation. For a great afternoon, grab a deck chair or cabana at the centerpiece of the Resort, the luxurious zero-entry pool, and enjoy light fare and cool drinks poolside. In the evenings, it is a great place to watch the sunset.

All in all, PGA National Spa & Resort is one of the finest places to enjoy a relaxing stay and if your a golfer, the best in the state. Go Stay & Play!
