Brentwood Golf Course Names Billy Casper New Managing Partner

Billy Casper Golf (BCG), the highly respected and innovative management company of golf courses, country clubs and resorts, has been chosen to operate the nine-hole Brentwood Golf Course in north Jacksonville, Florida. The municipal facility was previously leased by The First Tee of North Florida, which will continue to use the course as the main location for programming in Duval County.

“This partnership allows us to focus on our mission and provide character education to the children of  Jacksonville while exposing them to the game of golf. In addition, Brentwood will still be home to many juniors throughout the community,” said Jeff Willoughby, Executive Director of the First Tee of North Florida. “We look forward to working with Billy Casper Golf as their expertise in golf course conditioning and operations will improve the overall guest experience at Brentwood.”

BCG will provide golf course maintenance, marketing, sales, staffing and training for the facility. Operations will be locally managed by a professional golf and agronomic team, supported by a regional and national group that will provide expert guidance and direction. Billy Casper currently manages Bent Creek Golf Course in Jackonsonville, Fernandina Beach Golf Club and St. Johns Golf & Country Club.

“With a unique layout that is an important part of the community, Brentwood is poised for growth,” says Dan Zimmer, Regional Director for Billy Casper Golf. “The golfers who play the course will realize the BCG difference in the short and long term.” The clubhouse at Brentwood is a gathering place for locals and visitors which includes a pro shop, refreshment center, golf library and a social area with comfortable seating and wide -screen televisions.

In addition to nine player-friendly holes Brentwood also boasts a state-of-the-art practice facility which spans 14 acres, modeled after TPC Sawgrass, featuring all grass hitting and chipping area, putting green and sand bunker. The 1923 original Donald Ross designed 18 hole golf course hosted the PGA Tour Jacksonville Open in 1945 and 1946, both won by Sam Snead. The course closed in 1970, and the current track was reopened in 2000 under the direction of the First Tee.
