Acclaimed Golf Instructor Dana Rader Joins Sea Pines Resort

After her formal induction into the prestigious LPGA Teaching & Club Professional(T&CP) Hall of Fame during last week’s Solheim Cup in Iowa, Dana Rader has joined the instruction team at the world class Sea Pines Golf Learning Center in Hilton Head, South Carolina. The Sea Pines Resort is the host of the long running PGA TOUR’s RBC Heritage presented by Boeing which is played on its famed Pete Dye designed Harbour Town Golf Links. The Hall of Fame was established in 2000 and is the highest honor given to teaching and club professional members for extraordinary service and leadership while contributing to the game of golf and the industry.

Dana grew up in Morgantown, North Carolina and made the Men’s golf team at Pfeiffer University, before trying her hand on the LPGA TOUR. In 1984, Radar achieved LPGA Class A status and then LPGA Master Professional in 2003. GOLF Magazine added Dana to its Top 100 Teachers in America list in 1996, a position she still holds today, and was named #3 in the United States in Golf Digest’s Top 50 ‘Greatest Teachers in America’ list in 2003-2005 and 2008 to the present. The Golf Channel Academy made her Lead Charter Coach. Radar was named LPGA T&CP National Teacher of the Year in 1990 and won the Ellen Griffin Rolex Award in 2015.

Dana has established herself as an authority in the golf business when she began writing for Golf for Women Magazine in the 80’s. Currently she is a contributing writer for GOLF Magazine, Golf Digest, Golf Tips Magazine, Sports Illustrated GOLF and Charlotte NC Observer.

In addition to her teaching and owning a world class golf school in Charlotte for 35 years, Dana published a book from Walkabout Press in 2002- “Rock Solid Golf-A Foundation for a Lifetime.” She used a series of case studies to explain why fundamentals are so important. Radar’s good friend, Nancy Lopez, a member of the LPGA  and World Golf Hall of Fames, says, “the book provides an excellent blueprint for success.”

Beginning her tenure this September, Dana will join the Golf Learning Center team led by Tim Cooke, the Sea Pines Resort’s Director of Instruction. Radar will conduct a 3-day golf instruction school from 9/19-21 as well as ongoing private lessons throughout the month. She will additionally be offering both “Women Only” and coed instruction programs.

“We’re thrilled Dana is joining our state-of-the-art instruction team,” says Cary Corbitt, Vice President of Sports & Operations. “Her leadership, passion and commitment  to growing the game will further augment our standing as one of the premier golf destinations in the U.S.”
