Orlando’s premier private country club, Lake Nona G&CC, will play host to the Gainbridge LPGA, the 2nd of 3 tournaments set for Florida to open the 2021 schedule. Played last year at Boca Rio CC in Boca Raton, the LPGA moved the contest to Lake Nona, a 1986 Tom Fazio signature design that played host to the inaugural Solheim Cup in 1990. The U.S. women defeated their European counterparts 11.5-4.5 in the Ryder Cup-style matches. The course, the centerpiece of the 17-square-mile Lake Nona residential and commercial development southeast of downtown Orlando, also hosted the 1993 World Cup and four editions of the Tavistock Cup(2004, 2007, 2009 and 2012). Lake Nona is home to number of professional golfers including 72-time LPGA champion Annika Sorenstam, Golf analyst and Masters champion Nick Faldo, David Leadbetter, U.S. Open winner Graham McDowell calls Lake Nona home when not in Northern Ireland, and his signature sophisticated restaurant Non Blue is one of the highly acclaimed dining spots in the area. The Gainbridge will played February 25-28th.
The Diamond Resorts LPGA Tournament of Champions presented by Insurance Office of America will open 2021 at the Four Seasons Resort and Golf Club, another fantastic Fazio layout in Disney World January 21-24. Then in March the LPGA returns to the Ron Garl designed masterpiece, Golden Ocala Golf & Equestrian Club, for the playing of the Drive On LPGA Championship presented by JTBC.
