SkyGolf®, maker of SkyCaddie® the most trusted Rangefinder in Golf, announces the introduction of the new SkyCaddie Mobile GPS App available for iOS and Android smartphones and tablets. Now golfers of all skill levels and budgets can save strokes and play better with golf’s only 100% ground-verified and error-corrected course maps through a variety of platforms, choosing from the convenience of the SkyCaddie LINX watch, the complete course management ability of the new SkyCaddie TOUCH with a large hi-res display, or SkyCaddie Mobile for those who prefer using their smartphone or tablet.

skygolf“SkyCaddie Mobile is designed as an entry-level product which allows us to complete our mission to provide A SkyCaddie for Every Golfer, while adding a new benefit of membership to current SkyCaddie customers.” said Richard Edmonson, CEO, SkyGolf. “Since SkyCaddie Mobile runs on a smartphone and not a precision-engineered and dedicated SkyCaddie device, it is NOT an equal substitute for a REAL SkyCaddie. However, SkyCaddie Mobile is the best golf GPS app on the market because it is powered by the same ground-verified and error-corrected TrueGround® Course Maps that make SkyCaddie the #1 Rated and Most Trusted Rangefinder in Golf.”

The basic SkyCaddie Mobile App is available as a FREE download from the Apple App and Google Play stores. The basic app enables golfers to search SkyGolf’s extensive library of over 35,000 courses to find course ratings, scorecards and other helpful information such as prices, dress code and more. It also allows golfers to score their round as they play, capture basic stats for performance analysis and capture highlights and special moments with an integrated camera feature.

Premium features are available via an in-app purchase of SkyCaddie Mobile Premium for $29.99 per year. SkyGolf has automatically upgraded most of its current customers to include SkyCaddie Mobile Premium at no extra cost as a benefit of membership. Existing SkyCaddie customers with eligible memberships simply have to download the App and sign in.

The new mobile app is a great companion for use with older SkyCaddies or a watch with smaller screens to grab a quick look at the overall hole layout but then have their SkyCaddie for the reliable distances they have learned to trust. It can also be of value as a backup should they forget their REAL SkyCaddie.

SkyCaddie Mobile Premium includes many of the same features that are available in SkyCaddie’s REAL GPS devices including:

  • Interactive HoleVue in Vivid HD, which provides a bird’s-eye view of the entire hole and the distances needed to any point from tee to green to avoid hazards and play smart golf.
  • Integrated HoleVue Targets, including up to 40 geo-referenced targets per hole. Golfers simply pinch and zoom HoleVue to seamlessly reveal the critical distances to all hazards, carries and layups — not just a few calculated layup yardages provided in other apps … all without changing screens to a list of targets that are hard to understand.
  • Detailed Green Information allows golfers to view the exact shape of the green and get distances to the front, center and back from anywhere on the course.
  • Auto-Hole Advance, which automatically advances to the next hole so the distances needed for the next shot are always ready.
  • Measure Any Shot allows golfers to learn the distances of each club, making them better golfers and saving wasted strokes.
  • SkyGolf 360 Premium Membership is also part of SkyCaddie Mobile Premium App to provide Cloud storage and advanced scoring and stats features, advanced reports and charts, live scoring, and much more.

SkyGolf 360 is a cloud-based service with its own App that hosts one of golf’s fastest growing online communities where golfers stay connected to their game, their courses, their equipment, their pro and each other.

“We don’t expect SkyCaddie Mobile to replace traditional SkyCaddie devices” added Edmonson, “There are inherent issues with smart phones on a golf course such as battery life, risk of damage, intrusiveness and of course the difference in accuracy imposed by the phone’s limited GPS precision. But our mission is to be the rangefinder of choice for all golfers, regardless of ability, frequency of play or budget, and SkyCaddie Mobile is certainly the smart, comprehensive mobile alternative to owning a REAL SkyCaddie watch or handheld, especially when considering the advantages of SkyGolf’s highly accurate TrueGround course maps over aerial imagery maps used by other smart phone apps that contain known errors and can be out of date.”
