Reunion, Central Florida’s Premier Golf Resort, and the North Florida PGA will host 3 Junior events the last week of June. The Competitions begin with the Drive, Chip & Putt local qualifier Tuesday, 6/24 on the Jack Nicklaus Signature course range at Reunion Resort. Over 200 youngsters will attempt to drive, chip and putt their way to the finals at Augusta National Sunday, April 5th, prior to the 2015 Masters Tournament, which will be televised by the Golf Channel. If you watched the Women’s U.S. Open and saw Lucy Li, the 11-year old, she was the national champion in 2014. The Drive, Chip & Putt Competition is supported by the USGA, The PGA of America and the Masters Tournament Foundation.
Then on Wednesday and Thursday, 6/25 & 26, the North Florida PGA Junior Championships, one of the largest in the state, will be contested on the Resort’s Watson course. Over 150 juniors will compete within their age divisions for their respective titles. Each medalist boy and girl will advance to the prestigious National 39th Junior PGA Championship 7/29-8/1 at Miramont Country Club in College Station, Texas. The best juniors from the North Florida Section clubs will test their game against their peers and have some fun at Reunion while here. Tee times begin at 7am.
The little ones won’t be left out either. Little Linksters, run by PGA Professional Brendon Elliot, will host the North Florida PGA Pee Wee Championship on the Nicklaus course on Wednesday 6/25. These aspiring young players will enjoy competing on a championship venue with special yardage designations for them, starting at 7:30am.
Spectators are invited to come out and cheer our young hopefuls on and enjoy some fun golf with the Youth. For results and leaderboards visit NFPGA.com.
