PNC Father/Son Challenge Returns to Ritz Carlton Golf Club Orlando

The 18th annual PNC Father/Son Challenge tees off December 10-13 at the Grand Lakes Resort in Orlando, Florida for the fourth year at the Greg Norman designed Ritz Carlton Golf Club. The golf tradition continues with Mr. Jack Nicklaus returning to the competition with son Gary, and a 20 player field for the family oriented, 36 hole tournament.

Defending champions Bernard and Jason Langer are back to try and preserve their winning ways after father Langer won the Charles Schwab Cup on the Champions Tour. Past winners Stewart and Connor Cink, Raymond and Ray Junior Floyd, Hale and Steve Irwin, Larry and Drew Nelson and Davis and Dru Love III will compete with the Langers and Nicklaus father and son.

“We are excited to welcome some of golf’s greatest back to the resort this year for the PNC Father/Son Challenge,” said Jim Burns, Vice President and Managing Director, Grande Lakes Orlando. “This event perfectly complements our other family activities including eco-tours, wildlife programs, kayaking the headwaters of the Everglades, fishing for large-mouth bass on Shingle Pond and more.”

The 20 teams will compete in a 36 hole two person scramble format over four days for the $1 million prize purse. The winning team gets to take home the Willie Park Trophy, named in honor of Willie Park and his son Willie Park Jr., who combined to win an unprecedented five British Opens. In order to qualify to play the PNC Father/Son Challenge, the participant professional must have won either a major championship or The Players in their career. The proceeds from the Tournament will benefit the Arnold Palmer Hospital Medical Center and will directed to the Healthy Families Orange Program offered by the Howard Phillips Center for Children & Families.

Others in the field include Steve and Sam Elkington, Nick and Matthew Faldo, Fred and Taylor Funk, Lee and Connor Janzen, Tom and Thomas Lehman, Mark and Shaun O’Meara, Nick and Greg Price, Dave and Dave Jr. Stockton, Curtis and Tom Strange, Vijay and Qass Singh, Lee and Daniel Trevino, Lanny and Tucker Wadkins, and Fuzzy and daughter Gretchen Zoeller. I would love to see Fuzzy and Gretchen win but my money is on the Loves. For more information go to www.PNCFatherSonChallenge.com.
