Magnolia Green Golf Club

The Jack Nicklaus designed, in association with Tom Clark and Associates, Magnolia Green Golf Club is the centerpeice of Magnolia Green – a resort style community planned for about 3,000 homes, 35 miles southwest of Richmond, Virginia. Homes start at $200,000 and can reach $1mm.

The 7150 yard course from the tips is an environmentally- friendly masterpiece that is challenging for golfers with the Nicklaus Design Team expertly incorporating five sets of tees for players of all skill levels. The course features bermuda grass fairways and tees with bent grass greens. The practice facility boasts two practice greens, four bunkers and a driving range with both grass and artificial teeing surfaces.

The real gem at Magnolia Green is Leighannn Albaugh, the Director of Instruction at the Magnolia Green Golf Academy. Leighann’s resume’ reads like a super instructor, having coached championship college golf teams, a PGA certified instructor who has worked with Jim Suttie and Dana Rader, and a U.S. Kids Top 50 Instructor. If there is anyone in the greater Richmond area you should go to fix your game, it is Leighann.

Billy Casper Golf manages Magnolia Green which was the recipient of Golf Digest’s 2015 “10 Best New Courses” you can play for Virginia. The course redo by Nicklaus cleaned the streams that meander through the course and planted vegetation along them, and improved playability of the layout. The signature 18th hole, a breathtaking mid-length par 4, with a narrow fairway and creek crossing in front of the green about 90 yards out, will test the mettle of any player.

A new 15,000 square foot clubhouse is under construction with porches on front and back with the back overlooking the 1st and 10th tees. The two-story, multi-purpose structure is scheduled to open in the fall of 2017 with a full-service restaurant and bar, golf pro shop and private dining areas. It will be an ideal setting for grabbing a beverage and a bite after 18, hosting a wedding or family gathering, or organizing a company event or large party.
