BoardRoom magazine named KemperSports of Northbrook, Illinois the Club Management Company of the Year, for the third consecutive year. The 3 time honor is unprecedented in the magazine’s 16 year history of ‘Excellence in Achievement’ awards.

“Each of the recipients of the BoardRoom magazine’s ‘Excellence in Achievement’ awards are clearly leaders in their respective industries,” said John Fornaro, Publisher.

KemperSports is a privately held golf course and hospitality management company founded in 1978 by Steven H. Lesnik and James S. Kemper Jr., President and Chairman of the Board of Kemper Insurance. The company began with the management of Kemper Lakes Golf Cub, an upscale public golf course in the Chicago area where the 1989 PGA Championship was held and won by Payne Stewart

KemperSports builds, owns and manages golf courses, resorts, athletic clubs, lodging venues and restaurants, and has more than 5,500 employees. Its clients include owners and developers of golf courses and hospitality venues, financial institutions and municipalities. Today, the company’s portfolio includes Bandon Dunes Golf Resort, titled the #1 Golf Resort in North America by both Golf Digest and Golf Magazine, Chambers Bay in Washington, the site of the 2015 US Open, and Streamsong Resort (ranked in the top 20 new courses to play by Golf Digest and Golf Magazine) in Polk County, Florida. The company launched a private club division called Kemper Collection in 2012 of now some 20 country clubs including the Governors Club in Tennessee, La Gorce C.C. , Miami Beach and Fountains C.C. in Lake Worth, Florida.

In addition to the portfolio’s growth with private clubs, KemperSports continued on its long-standing mission to grow the game of golf. To commemorate the organizations commitment to player development, KemperSports launched a Player Development Program that introduces the game in a fun and unintimidating manner to thousands of new golfers around the country.

“To be named as Club Management Company of the year for the third year in a row is a wonderful honor for our dedicated staff throughout the country who work tirelessly to deliver exceptional experiences for our members and guests, ” said KemperSports CEO Steve Skinner.

Representatives from KemperSports will accept their award in March at the Club Managers Association of America conference in San Antonio, Texas.
