Golf Club at Ballantyne Designated Certified Wildlife Habitat

The National Wildlife Federation (NWF) has designated the Golf Cub at Ballantyne in Charlotte, North Carolina an official Certified Wildlife Habitat. NWF applauds the efforts of the Club to create a garden space that improves the habitat for birds, butterflies, frogs and other wildlife by providing essential elements needed- natural food sources, clean water, cover and places to raise young. The Golf Club at Ballantyne is one of only a few courses in North Carolina to be NWF certified.

The NWF certification program has been helping people take personal action on behalf of wildlife for more than 40 years. It includes homeowners, businesses, schools, churches, parks and communities that want to make a difference and make the land more wildlife friendly.

“We are committed to providing our guests with a pleasant golf experience while maintaining a healthy ecosystem for plant and animal life,” says Woody Alan, director of ancillary operations for The Ballantyne Hotel & Lodge, where the Golf Club is located.

“Providing a safe environment for wildlife in our communities-whether it’s at home, schools, parks or golf courses-is the demonstration of a healthy and active ecosystem. There is no more rewarding way to stay connected to nature right outside your door,” said David Mizejewski, a naturalist with the NWF.

This new certified habitat at Golf Club of Ballantyne joins NWF’s roll of 150,000 wildlife habitats nationwide. Each wildlife habitat is unique for both its beauty and function.
