Gates Four G&CC Readies for Max Motion Championship

Maintaining readiness is paramount for the army of soldiers who make Fort Bragg, located northwest of Fayetteville, North Carolina, its home. Like the Army, golf in the sandhills area has to be formalized, has to be organized, and most of all, it has to be modernized continually.

The same trend continues at Gates Four Golf & and Country Club, Fayetteville’s top semi-private golf experience, which hosts the National Golf Association Pro Golf Tour’s Max Motion Physical Therapy All American Championship presented by Marriott, July 10-13. For more information visit

“The pros are going to have a challenge with the course, which is in great shape,” says Gates Four General Manager Kevin Lavertu. “We will put our best foot forward to promote Fayetteville and our outstanding facility.” This is the first year the Championship will be played here.

To better test the players artillery, the golf course has been stretched to more than 7,000 yards with addition of 3 new championship tees on holes 9,13 & 15-highlighted by the extension of #13 from 536 to 605 yards. The tournament will play to par 71, with the par 5, 487 yard 4th changed to a par 4. Over hill and over dale the players will battle this golf trail.

Last year, the country club unveiled a new 3,600 square foot Golf Pavilion, which accompanies a golf course renovation by Greensboro, NC. Architect Kris Spence. Kris brought all the greens back to USGA specifications using A1/A4 bent grass as well as redoing all the bunkers. In addition he improved the practice facility and chipping green.

The North Carolina Golf Panel ranked Gates Four #7 among the top courses in the state’s Eastern Region, and Top-5 among the area’s Best 3 Finishing holes. For more information on the club go to
