Forest Oaks Country Club Selects OB Sports

OB Sports Golf Management announced it has assumed club management duties at Forest Oaks Country Club in Greensboro, North Carolina, the former host of the Greater Greensboro Open from 1977-2007, won by greats Ben Hogan, Sam Snead and Seve Ballesteros.

“We look forward to working with such an iconic club with such a rich tradition,” said Phil Green, COO of OB Sports. “Our priority is to serve the outstanding membership at the club, and all of our guests, by bringing back the quality of Forest Oaks to its historic roots as a PGA Tour stop for 30 years.”

General Manager Anthony Miller says, “We are proud to welcome OB Sports to partner with Forest Oaks. They have a proven track record of raising the bar at their facilities, and are known for creating ‘best in class’ golf experiences, and we look forward to the results this partnership will create.”

Designed by noted architect Ellis Maples, Forest Oaks opened in 1962 to rave reviews. It was known as one of the best tests in North Carolina and rated as a favorite tournament venue by PGA TOUR players. As the golf course aged, alterations to the course were necessary, and in 2002 the job or reworking the course was given to Davis Love III’s Love Golf Design. Fairways were re-sprigged with TifSport bermuda grass, a strain that handles the summer heat and winter wetness well, allowing for closer cuts than before. Greens are Bent grass A4 and A1, which offers a faster and true surface. The course plays to 7,212 yards from the Championship tees and has a reputation for smooth greens and superb fairways.

OB Sports plans on updating the menu at the Champions Grill with many delicious favorites, as well as adding new, fun and family events to the Members Event Calendar. The swimming pool has been reopened for the membership to enjoy again.

“OB Sports is committed to restoring the Club to premium condition and working with the Greensboro community to make Forest Oaks a destination for spectacular golf and special events,” said Green. It will be open for limited non-member play. Starting times can only be booked online directly through the club at

ForestOaksCC.com/tee-times using the Direct Advantage, that provides for the Best Rate Guarantee with no booking fees.
