The Ritz Carlton Grande Lakes in Orlando was the site of the PNC Bank Father & Son Challenge in December. Prior to the beginning of play PNC Bank hosted the Executive Women’s Golf Association luncheon featuring a panel of golf industry business leaders Wednesday the 10th of December.
The panelists included: Karen England, Director of Sales and Marketing for Ritz Carlton and JW Marriott Resorts, Grande Lakes Orlando. Regina O’Brien, Senior Vice President of Marketing for The Golf Channel. Jean Beakey, Vice President of Business Development, Golf Media Sales at NBC Sports. And Karen Stupples, former winner of the Ladies British open, LPGA Tour Player and Golf Channel Contributor.
The discussion featured how golf has impacted their jobs and lives with anecdotes about circumstances they experienced. One large note; the only area of noticeable growth in golf is with women taking up the game. Also, the success of the LPGA this year has been phenomenal and good for global participation especially with Stacy Lewis’ awards and Michelle Wie’s win at the US Open at Pinehurst.
After the luncheon in the Ritz, the group adjourned to the Ritz Carlton Golf Club Grand Lakes where Bobby Clampett, PGA ,entertained and taught a class on pitching and chipping using the Impact Zone as the key to success.
The EWGA members who attended had an opportunity to showoff their abilities and get personal instruction from Bobby. It was a great way to kick off the PNC Father & Son Challenge with the greats of the game playing with their sons, such as Floyd, Miller, Stockton, Trevino and Nicklaus. trying to beat last year’s winners Stewart and Connor Cink.
