Country Club of Bristol picks KemperSports

country club of bristolTennessee’s oldest golf club, The Country Club of Bristol announced the selection of Chicago based KemperSports as their new management company. The 120 year old semi-private club is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and is considered the birthplace of organized golf in Tennessee.

KemperSports will oversee all golf and club operations with a focus on enhancing both the member and guest experience at the historic club. Kemper Sports builds, owns and manages golf courses, resorts, athletic clubs and lodging across the U.S., Caribbean and Central America. The company’s portfolio includes nationally ranked properties such as the award winning Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon and Chambers Bay, site of the 2015 US Open.

Established in 1894 as a private club, the Country Club has been at its present location since 1958, when A. G. McKay constructed the golf course, which was redesigned by Mark McCumber in1999. The Club is located just south of the Virginia state line about 110 miles northeast of Knoxville. The family friendly club has many amenities to enjoy including indoor and outdoor tennis and racquetball, a sand volleyball court, a heated junior Olympic size pool with zero entry, waterslide and lazy river. The Family Fitness Center which opened in 2008, includes cardio, fitness and cross training equipment as well as an aerobics exercise room.
